Penn State moves to No. 3
Penn State has moved up to third nationally in the Division I U.S. Academy Directors' Cup standings -- and could push higher with the recent national title by the men's volleyball team.
The rankings are good through the NCAA winter championships.
The winter season was highlighted by the Nittany Lions' third-place NCAA finish in wrestling and fourth place finishes by the fencing and men's gymnastics teams.
Penn State trails only Stanford and Michigan.
The rest of the top 10 includes Penn State, Ohio State, California, Texas, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Arizona State and Florida.
The men's gymnastics team won its second Big Ten title, highlighted by Casey Sandy's championships in the all-around and parallel bars. He went on to win the national all-around title, too.
