Lawrence among the best
Delone Catholic grad Casey Lawrence capped a terrific sophomore season at Albright College in Reading by being named to the all-Commonwealth Conference first-team.
Lawrence was stellar on the pitcher’s mound, going 4-3 with a 2.02 earned run average in 62 Ð innings of work in 10 appearances and earned one save.
He struck out 56 batters while walking just seven and opposing batters hit just.239 off of him. He even struggled getting run support as his team was shutout in all three of his losses.
Lawrence was solid with the bat himself in limited action, hitting .359 (14-of-39), with a triple, two home runs and nine RBIs.
The former Squire will likely see plenty of action this summer, playing for the Kutztown Rockies of the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League, which plays a 40-game schedule.
The Rockies have won the last two league championships.
Joining Lawrence at Albright is former Delone teammate Pat Brady, who hit .357 (5-14) in 10 games
